Italian Quail
These are a pretty slightly speckled golden colored quail.
They lay up to 320 eggs per year and are the most prolific layers of all the quail species. Their eggs can be used in much the same way as chicken eggs although much smaller so more will be needed.
They weigh between 4 -6oz for the males and 6-8oz for the females.
There is no need to have any males if you just require the eggs for eating and not for hatching.
1 Week old Chicks £1.00 each (unsexed)
2 Weeks old £1.50 each (unsexed)
Adult Females £5.00
Adult Males £3.00
**Please note the 1 & 2 week old chicks will need heat**
***The young chicks will be healthy and strong on collection but their continuing health and growth will depend on your set up, I cannot be held responsible once they have been collected although I am happy to help and advise where possible***
Limited stock at the moment so please call to check availability. Hopefully will have chicks hatching between the 4th and 8th August 2018
Chinese Painted Quail
The Chinese Painted Quail (excalfactoria chinensis) is about 4-5 inches in height, much smaller than other members of the quail family such as Japanese and Harlequin quail.
They are ground dwellers and are often used in the bottom of aviaries as they eat the seed dropped by the other birds.
